BLOOD OF THE DEMON MOON CULT SESSION II

This is the campaign log for the second session of a google+run Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate campaign. The previous session is described HERE

Player Characters
Mofeng: A young wandering Hero who is frequently at odds with his traveling companion Zhang Wan
Zhang Wan (Bone Breaker): An unpredictable and violent martial expert who is the brother of Zhang San
Zhang San: A wandering hero and sister of Zhang Wan, more calm than her brother
Chen: A poisoner and healer known for his lazy ways.

Last session Zhang Wan, the Bone Breaker, was poisoned by the Jade Priestess who had forced him to join the Demon Moon Cult. She refused to give him the antidote until he retrieved the Manual of Changing from Golden Dragon Temple and was told he had days before the poison kicked in.

Wan headed north with his companions toward the Golden Dragons, stopping in a village along the way to buy a horse from an elderly woman. She took a liking to him and sold it to him with a cart for a reasonable price. After the sale she handed him a dagger and pointed to the nearby peaks saying "If he kill one of those dirty Dehuan Priests for me, I'll throw in the other horse."

Bone Breaker refused and handed the blade back, and she responded by hurling insults as he left. On the party's path from the village they met Chen, a local Physician who offered his services if they'd take him with them.

After a day of travel they reached a pass where nuns of Heiping Sect blocked the way and demanded a 300 Spade Coin toll. Though they were initially resistant to making payment, they gave them their money so they could move without interruption.

On the third day they arrived near Golden Dragon Temple and discussed their strategy while Bone Breaker went ahead and approached on his own. The group decided they needed a gift to present the Golden Dragons but lacked anything of real value. Looking around they saw smoke through the hills to the west and went to see if anyone there might have objects worthy of gifting. They reached a small camp of Kushen Tribesmen who were extracting turquoise from a nearby deposit. At first they tried to buy a lump of turquoise which they hoped to carve into a gift. The Kushen were happy to make the trade, but in the end they decided to speak with the leader of the camp. This led them to the tent of Princess Sarnai, who agreed to hold an audience with them.

They intuited that she was hostile to the Golden Dragons and were given a sword called Blue Thunder which she said was worth a fortune. They were to give the Golden Dragons the Sword, steal the manual and then allow her to copy it.

Meanwhile Bone Breaker arrived at Golden Palace and was brought before the Bronze Master. He told the Bronze Master that he had been sent by the Demon Moon Cult but wanted to switch allegiance and would be willing to lead an attack on the cult's headquarters if provided with the resources. Bronze Master was suspicious but willing to form an arrangement. However he was only willing to provide 15,000 Spades and required Bone Breaker to take a poisoned pill so he couldn't betray the Dragons.

The rest of the part arrived during the conversation and we also brought before Bronze Master. They asked to join the sect and gave the sword as a gift. Bronze Master agreed to take them as students and sent them to the student hall to have their heads shaved. They asked for a tour of the grounds and it was provided.

When Bronze Master continued to insist on his terms, Bone Breaker stormed from the palace and into the courtyard where students were training. He came upon a student of moderate skill and kicked him from behind, then proceeded to beat him nearly to death. Dragging the body back to the palace he threw it before Bronze Master and said "Now that you see what I can do are you willing to work out a better arrangement".

This infuriated Bronze Master who, after healing his student, told Bone Breaker he would dive him executed if he didn't agree to the original terms and take the poisoned pill. Bone Breaker agreed but managed to spit out the pill before he took the 15,000 spades. He then left for the Demon Moon Cult.

The rest of the party remained in the student residence hall, sneaking out in the night to investigate a nearby section of the temple they spotted on their tour.

This is where the session ended.
